A-Teen, going on nineteen
That one's home is one's first learning centre fits perfectly to Akriti Kakkar, the singer who has made a name among the young generation with her song "Jal Bin Machchli" from her debut solo album A-Teen last year.
Says Akriti "My mother is my first guru." Akriti was in New Delhi to announce her next album 9-Teen.
The album is going to be launched this month.
Incidentally, she was a winner of the 1999 TVS Sa Re Ga Ma National Talent Hunt (Junior/Children's Special). She was also crowned winner at various talent competitions like BPL Music Mania on Jain TV, Sangam Kala Group, Kala Darpan. She was also a winner of Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma, 1998 and gave her first stage performance for the SAARC audio visual exchange programme at the age of five. From there she became a part of "Little Wonders", a Kalyanji-Anandji music troupe that was later known as "Little Stars" whenAnand ji started managing it alone.
As part of this troupe she did two world tours and some 100-music shows worldwide.
