Pen your thoughts on environment

An essay contest for college students on January 25

If you are one of those youngsters, who feels strongly about environmental issues, the New Acropolis Cultural Organisation is conducting an essay competition on environment for college students on January 25 at 2 p.m. at Ethiraj College for Women, Egmore.

The topics for the competition are: Climate change; Floods: melting of glaciers; Sequoias - desertification - water scarcity; Ozone layer - greenhouse gases; and Fauna and flora preservation.

The essays should be in English and each college can send only one participant.

The participants must bring an authorisation letter from the college and will get one and a half hours to write the essay. The three best essays will fetch cash prizes and the winners will also get books on environment for their college libraries. Participation certificate will be given to all.
