Make them sensitive

This is with reference to the Sound Off column on discipline (January 14). I share the views of Sabita Radhakrishna. However, I feel that creating awareness may not be the only solution. We need to take all efforts to mould a generation that's proactive, sensitive to fellow beings and equipped for social action.

In the incident narrated, if only the official in-charge had been sensitive enough, he would have announced the reversal of the order of the compartments and appealed to the passengers not to panic/rush. Thank God, a stampede was not triggered.
