Welcome move

Sathyam Cinemas is taking a bold step to popularise avant-garde and original films by starting a late night show (10.30 p.m.) of these films which otherwise will never get screened. They have called it "pure cinema" and the fact is that it is up to the Chennai audience who love good cinema to popularise this slot. The first film in this category is the offbeat "Hotel Rwanda", featuring the black American star, Don Cheadle, who plays a hotel manager. He saves the lives of thousands from being slaughtered by the hated Hutu militia. The film received critical acclaim and is referred to as the African version of "Schindler's List".
