Postponed

Aamir Khan films have huge openings in Chennai. The release of his latest "Rang De Basanti", scheduled for today, has been postponed by a week to January 26. All eyes are on the film for the wrong reasons. First, the Indian Air Force (IAF) objected to the film as it portrayed them in a bad light. The film is said to be based on the true story of an IAF pilot Abhijit Gadgil (played by Madhavan) who gets killed in an Mig-plane crash, which was blamed on the Defence Ministry. However, the Defence Ministry officials, after watching the film, had given it the green signal. More trouble came the filmmaker's way, when the Animal Welfare Board demanded and got a 20-second shot of Aamir riding a horse, decorated for the Nihang festival of the Sikhs, deleted. Finally, "Rang De Basanti" is ready for release and A. R. Rahman's music is topping the charts. The film is expected to take a bumper opening in Chennai.
