Awards season begins
STAR POWER Rani Mukherji and Abhishek Bachchan at the Hero Honda Star Screen Awards.
The telecast of film awards functions has begun in full swing with annual Hero Honda Screen Awards that was telecast on January 15 on STAR Plus. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Black" pocketed maximum awards. Awards shows meanbig business for channels as they are a favourite with the advertisers. Even regional channels make the most of these programmes. But with many such shows happening now, awards seem to be losing value.
While various actors are awarded in the same function under different categories such as best actor, best supporting role, comic role, best newcomer and best villain, the channels and sponsors ensure maximum star attendance for a wider viewership.
Mandira replaces Maddy
Mandira Bedi has replaced Madhavan as the anchor for the game show "Deal Ya No Deal" on Sony TV! Maddy decided to move out as he felt that television was taking a lot of his time. As per his contract with Midtech, the producers of the game show, Maddy was supposed to give six days every month for the shoot. But soon he realised that schedules were going haywire and his film career was getting affected. Says Madhavan: "I thought that the best option was to gracefully quit the show as Tamil films are not only my passion but my bread and butter."
