From Amritsar!

If you have a taste for some real spicy and tangy food with an authentic touch of Punjabi flavours, then head to Amritsari Street Food Festival, "Swaad Ambarsar Di Galliyan Da" now on at Jaypee Vasant Continental's Indian cuisine restaurant Paatra. Since Punjab is known for its folk dances, traditional music and, of course, its delectable food, the festival has a good mix of all. And what is special about it is, quite a few famous roadside dhabawallas have been specially flown in to the city to offer the authentic flavours of Amritsar's roadside eateries. Take for instance, Ahuja's famous traditional lassi, which is prepared with saffron curd set in clay kujjas. Inimitable in taste and flavour, this kesar lassi is a must have here. Also, on the list are Surinder Singh Kapoor known for his "Adarsh Talkie Wala", Succha Singh for "Chungiwala Da Dhaba" and Bakshish Singh famous for "Kukkad Da Nukkad" in Amritsar lanes. Laveena Vidyarthi, the hotel's Assistant Manager, explains, "We have specially chosen these popular dhabawalas because we wanted the true Amritsari spirit of the street to be reflected in the food."

At Paatra, one can relish an array of delicacies like Machchi Pudina Tikka", Magaz Masala, Tawa Meat, Aloo Laungi, Sarson Da Saag among other dishes. Also, stuffed kulchas with chole, along with aromatic chutneys is simply irresistible. All the dishes have more than a dash of pure desi ghee adding its aroma to every morsel. In dessert, you can have Kesar Di Phirni, Moongi Daal Da Halwa and Jalebi Rabri Nal. To add a fitting ambience to the food, there is a vibrant Punjabi dιcor and live Punjabi music by popular Punjabi singers Charanjit Singh and Manpreet Kaur.

The festival is on till January 29.
