Tull's coming to town

College fests are no longer just that. IIMB, for instance, is flying down Jethro Tull for the annual event Unmaad

College campuses in the city have one more reason to go green over the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) — Jethro Tull will be performing at their annual inter-college cultural festival, Unmaad 2006. Yes, Ian Henderson and co. will be performing live at the IIMB campus on February 3 from 6.30 p.m. onwards.That's not all.

Another treat

The Tull performance will be followed the next day by a combination of Jal and ace percussionist Sivamani. Called Unity Concert, it will begin at 6.30 p.m. While Sivamani needs no introduction, Jal is a pop/rock band from Lahore.

Consisting Goher Mumtaz (vocals, lead, rhythm guitar and lyrics), Ferhan Saeed (lead vocals), Shazi (bass guitar), Waqar (drums) and Sultan (rhythm guitars), Jal was formed in 2002. Their biggest hit so far has been their single "Aadat".

Their sound primarily falls in the pop/soft rock genre. Playing along the lines of Latin-acoustic guitars, the main emphasis of their music is on the melodies and the lyrical content.

Keeping their songs melodious and catchy at the same time the band believes that music is truly the world's universal language capable of bringing our hearts and souls together.

In addition to the events for only college students, a few of the events, such as quiz, Antakshari, JAM, theme painting, movie spoof and face painting.

Unmaad will be inaugurated on February 2 and a series of events will be held on February 3 p.m. the campus. The tickets for the Tull concert are priced at Rs. 600 and Rs. 1,200, while the Unity Concert tickets are priced at Rs. 99.
