Films on art

Here is a festival of films on the fine arts

"Canvas is Moving", a festival of films on fine arts will be held at the Government College of Fine Arts, Egmore from January 23 to 25 and from February 20 to 25. The fest, organised by the college, the Alliance Francaise of Madras, The Tamil Nadu Thiraipada Iyakkam and the Kanchanai Film Movement, Tirunelveli, will be inaugurated at 5 this evening followed by the screening of the film "Frida". The films to be screened include "Un Chien Andalou", "Dreams", "Mystery of Picasso", "Painted Fire", "The Inner Eye", "Amrita Shergill", "Heaven on Earth", "Brahma, Vishnu, Siva", "Van Gogh" and "The Agony and the Ecstasy".

The second festival is presented by the Alliance Francaise daily at 6 p.m. from February 20 to 25 and is a retrospective of art docu filmmaker Pierre Coulibeuf. Films such as "Klossowski, Painter-Exorcist", "Lost Paradise", "C'est de l'art", "Balkan Baroque" and "The Warriors of Beauty" will be screened.
