Get into recliner

SOME STYLE, SOME SUBSTANCE Stanley Boutique is trying to make people brand conscious in furniture too

If you watch the popular serial Friends on Zee-MGM, you must have seen one of its characters Joey (Matt LeBlanc) who keeps fighting with his friends to sit on a recliner. This sought-after recliner belongs to the American brand of sofa sets called Lazboy, claimed to be a household name there.

Now, the same company, Lazboy has extended its wings to touch India. It has joined hands with Stanley, a Delhi-based dιcor boutique, thus turning it into one of the very few units in India to offer branded sofa sets.

So far, buying branded clothes is commonplace here but flaunting a branded sofa set has not quite caught on. But with the change in lifestyle, people are now becoming more quality and brand conscious, feels Akshaya Badrinarayan, Stanley's spokesperson here.

He says, "The leather that we use is of a high quality and not of the regular kinds. We are the only one who provide tailor-made sofa sets as per the need of the customers which sofa importers don't have."

Stanley Boutique has so far two showrooms in Greater Kailash Part One and on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road.

So, what makes Stanley products different from others? "Its tailor-made concept," says Badrinarayan.

A view at the Stanley showroom gives you the idea that it is not just another boutique that looks like a warehouse where all the furniture are dumped.

They are decorated in a living room style so one can get an idea as to how it would look when kept in a room.

Art too

And what's more, they have converted the show room into small drawing rooms where they are encouraging upcoming artists to exhibit their paintings and sculptures so that the people feel more relaxed in such cosy, homely environment.

Badrinarayan gives more details, "We pamper the customers with a whole package which contains exclusive design, fine finishing, free home delivery and after sales service which includes free cleaning for one year. We have 70 colours and seven textures for the customers to choose from. We have 10 different models of executive chairs and six recliners. We have a tie-up with Italian company which imports modern and ultra modern tables to go with the sofa sets."

Stanley already has showrooms in Bangalore, Mumbai and one coming up shortly in Chennai. Their immediate plan is to set up a showroom in Chandigarh too.
