Armagnac. Does the name ring any bells? Yes it will for those who know the authentic tang of wine. This week Taj Mahal hotel celebrated `An Armagnac and Cigar Evening'. Armagnac- a region located in Southwest France is named after a knight to whom this region was gifted by the king of France.
The evening started with the display of an exclusive selection of 12-year old Armagnac presented by Michel Gonet, President-World Armagnac Council. He exclaimed, "Indian market has potential as the people here appreciate good cuisine and beverages. We have a history of making wine since the 14th Century."
In ancient times it was consumed for its medicinal values and currently scientists have ascertained that it fights against cholesterol and heart diseases. Charles Henri, proprietor commented, "The annual harvest yields the white wine with low content of alcohol and high content of acidity, which is necessary to keep the freshness and aroma of the drink. It is necessary to educate people about wine manufacturing. Only then they will understand the enigmatic taste. Many people don't know that Armagnac is also used to digest food."
. Five star hotels are not the only market they are looking forward to. The complete bouquet delivers a variety of aromas of dry fruits, vanilla and soft spice.
Davidoff cigars 2000 were also showcased. This collection took four years to mature. To guarantee the consistent aroma, flavour and combustion these cigars are claimed to be made from the best-selected leaves of the harvest. It offered Davidoff 2000, Davidoff Special R and Davidoff Tubos No.2. All the three gives different kind of feel as all the three have different texture and finish. These cigars were especially packed for the occasion.
