TEN AND TRIUMPHANT Kishan on the sets of "C/o Footpath"
He looks like the restless brat-next-door. But there's more to ten-year-old Kishan than meets the eye. When boys of his age are busy taking notes in class, Kishan is juggling frenetic shooting schedules and dashing off notes to his crew on the sets. The lad from Bangalore is all set to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest film director.
Kishan, who launched the shooting of his full-length feature film "C/o Footpath," was in Chennai recently. "C/o Footpath," that has Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, Kannada artiste and National Award winner Tara, "Kallu Mama" Saurab Shukla and others in the cast, is not Kishan's debut in showbiz. He is an experienced actor with about two-dozen films to his credit. A tele-star too, the bubbly boy has appeared in 1,000 episodes of different soap operas.
Real life incidents
He learnt cinematography and the art of direction during his acting period. At the age of six, he composed a melodious number for the film "Hello" and co-rendered the song with Hindi playback singer Kumar Sanu. He is currently learning three dimensional computer graphics, which he intends to use for his film. And guess what, the ten-year-old pays income tax and professional tax!
Besides directing "C/o Footpath," Kishan is also playing the lead role. That's not all. He has penned the story too. The story according to him is "based on real life incidents reported in newspapers. It revolves around an orphan boy who wishes to go to school. The travails and trepidations of the young boy who hopes to get through his board exams forms part of the gripping climax."
Kishan feels that the message of his film is not limited to any one part of India. "My film will certainly motivate the underprivileged children all over the world. It's about their dream to get educated," he says.
The film is shot in Kannada and will be remade in Tamil and Hindi. Subsequently, it will be dubbed in all other languages and screened with subtitles abroad.
Kishan hopes to finish shooting this month and go ahead with post-production work. (In Tamil, R. B. Sriramulu and G. Shanmugam produce the film for V.C.Film makers.)
Did you know?
The youngest director of professionally made feature film as per Guinness Book Of World Records is Sydney Ling. He is from the Netherlands and was born on 20 November, 1959. He directed the film "Lex the Wonderdog" in his 13th year. When Ling heard about Kishan, he promptly sent a message of congratulations. "Wishing all the success with your directing debut. Life is an adventure and you have to enjoy all the moments- and time flies. If ever you may like to do a co-production, you let me know."
