Want to ride a Hayabusa, but can't afford John Abraham's favourite bike? Here is a solution.
Utilising the latest trend of getting the bikes modified to the high-end ones, young bike designer Atul Rahi offers a variety of options. You give him the photograph of any international motorcycle and this Delhiite would mould it to the latest detail.
He says post Dhoom, there is a boom in the market.
"When John Abraham became Yamaha's brand ambassador; his young fans also shifted to the company's expensive bikes like Yamaha R-1," he claims.
Mix and match
"Usually we use 150 cc bikes as base and use metal to design the exteriors. Everything is hand made and the bike looks quite brilliant. The colours are real too. We change the tyres, increase the exhaust pipe and the sound to give it the right feel."
Of course, it is all mix and match work for this guy steeped into modification.
On average and speed, Atul, who has learnt the art without any formal training, says, "The average comes down to some extent and since it's illegal to increase speed through nitrogen dioxide cylinders so we can't increase the speed to the levels of 1300 cc bikes." He charges Rs. 18,000 to 20,000 for the entire job including the material used.
Atul's workshop is at Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi and he also offers chopper models.
