Idea's diamond

In the last few years India has seen a very fast proliferation of mobile phones.

Mobile service providers today not only provide calling services but a host of other services including ring-tones, dialer tones, GPRS connectivity and access to the Internet.

The number of service providers has also increased tremendously. So,how does a provider increase his market? How does he entice mobile phone users as well as potential users to pick his network over the others?

As a spokesperson from theIdea Cellular, admits, "There is no differentiation on the basis of technology or services that a network can provide. What one network can provide, others can too."

This is the reason why Idea Cellular is now offering a diamond pendant free with every new post-paid connection plan of Rs.150 or more.

"The value of the diamond will be around Rs.5,000 and a guarantee certificate by the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) will also be included. Our aim is not only to draw new users, but also to provide an impetus for existing mobile phone users to switch operators," he elaborated.
