EQUAL OPPORTUNITY Special talents
The GRD School of Social Work has been training student social workers to work with disabled people.
As part of their training, students are encouraged to help such individuals satisfy their needs in the social milieu and remove as far as possible the barriers that obstruct people from achieving their very best.
A platform
In 1998, the school launched "Convergence" in order to bring together various categories of disabled people onto a single platform.
In its eighth year now, "Convergence'06" is holding a programme in which special children and those who have a problem with vision and hearing will participate in solo and group song and dance competitions, fancy dress and drawing contests.
Students from various special schools in and around Coimbatore will take part in the event.
Convergence'06 is being inaugurated today.
George C. Francis, Deputy IG of Police, Central Training College, CRPF, will flag off the event at 10 a.m. at the Rukmini Damodaran Auditorium, Dr GRD College of Science campus.
