Beat Street

Acid rock, Indi pop and ballads rule the stands this week

Gaane Bhi Do Yaaron

A Band of Boys/Universal

When their Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi was released in August 2002, the album sold over 1,00,000 units in the fortnight of its launch. Karan Oberoi, Chin2 Bhonsle, Sherrin Verghese and Siddharth Haldipur, whose shows are modelled on Broadway performances, followed it up with debut film Kiss Kis Ko released in October 2004.

The boys promise to spin the Meri neend magic once again as they return with yet another album. Leslie Lewis comes back to compose music and produce their album. Popular lyricist Mehboob writes for the eight-track album.

That's Amore, That's Love

Various/EMI

Its that time of the year where mush is in the air. Kicking off the Valentine's honey drenched compilation train is this 32 song offering. It stands out in the galore of contemporary artistes with its balmy ballads. Featuring Bobby Gentry, Dan Seals, Lobo, Paul Anka, Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren, and the Seekers. Songs from the 60s and related jazz, R&B and more influences of the times, an ideal gifting option for old times sake.

Light and Heavy - The Best Of

Iron Butterfly/ Warner

Known for their tours with the Doors and their heavy psychedelic acid rock, the group puts away all apprehensions of their being labelled dated as they take centre stage with the re-release of their 1993 hit. Featuring the 17-minute epic In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida written by vocalist, organist, and bandleader Doug Ingle who formed the first line up of the band in 1966 with drummer Ron Bushy. A collector's album.
