Like nine pins, they don't all fall down. These nine girls play spirited hostelmates of Chintamani in the Shaji Kailas movie, `Chintamani Kola Case'. They are all accused of ragging her at Medical College, which allegedly results in her death. All nine are big bad girls, the offspring of well-heeled parents, who ne'er say die. "They all have important roles. Actually, I have 9 plus one heroines in this movie," laughs Shaji Kailas. All nine will enliven the movie with their looks, pranks and clothes.

The girls

Aiswarya is from Palakkad, doing her BA (Literature) in St. Teresa's College, in the city. She did her schooling in Dubai. "Yes, it's kind of negative, these characters, because we are accused of ragging her," says Aiswarya. This is her first movie, but she has done quite a bit of modelling for jewellery and clothes for companies like Alukkas, Kalyan, Jayalakshmi and Josco. "There is a lot of scope for acting in this role," she adds.

Mamata who comes from Mumbai, has done two Hindi films, one of which was `in a character role with John Abraham'. The other is a movie which has a new cast, called, `Taxi 9211' of which shooting is still not over. "The name of my character in `Chintamani Kola case' is Arya. In the South, I find everyone very professional and though my character is negative, I like it," she says.

Madhuri is happy that her name is also Madhuri in the movie. She is also from Mumbai and has been in a Bollywood movie called `Kiska Hai Intzar'.

Aswathy from Kochi did a small role in `Rasikan'. Jesna from Thalassery is a Plus I student who acted as Innocent's daughter in `Bus Conductor'. She has done a couple of serials including `Kadamattathu Kathanar'.

Madhurima from Adoor is a B.Com II year student who acted in `Albhutha Dweep'. Her name is Nikhila in the film and she loves acting as one of the bad gang in the hostel. Nisha from Thrissur started her career in `Naran' as Bhavana's friend. Acting as Benazir Ali, she says she is lucky to be working in this movie. She had done a lot of modelling for Atlas Jewellery and Josco, while working in Dubai.

`Chintamani Kola Case' is the second film of Nimi, who hails from Palluruthy in the city. A Plus I student, she has done a small role in `Rashtram'. Nimi too has modelled for Galaxy Jewellery. "We are all required to be modern, a sort of `American style'," she laughs.

Priyanka is the ninth one and they all say they feel privileged to work in a Shaji Kailas movie, which they feel will give them a lift in their career. All the nine girls wear the latest and glamorous outfits in the film.
