Superstar's next stop

Kollywood's `Badshah' Rajnikanth will do an animation film. And guess who's behind it? Daughter Soundarya, of course

NEW AVATAR Rajnikanth will soon appear in an animated film

No demanding hours of dancing in uncomfortable costumes. No gruelling takes and retakes in cramped studios. No grease paint and glaring lights. Superstar Rajnikanth will soon appear in a new avatar — an animated one and will be working in a virtual environment!

Adlabs Films Ltd., a top-notch entertainment conglomerate promoted by the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, and Chennai-based Ocher Studios Pvt. Ltd., a post-production studio serving the film industry in the South, will co-produce an animation film featuring the matinee idol. The project that targets both Indian and international audiences will involve leading specialist skills from across the globe.

Thrilled

"We are proud to be associated with Adlabs," says Soundarya Rajinikanth, Managing Director, Ocher Studios. "Our expertise and their experience in the field of entertainment will soon result in quality projects. I'm thrilled that Adlabs and Ocher will be doing this first-ever full-length animation film, featuring an icon. I consider this a special dedication to my father's contribution to the Indian film industry."

Speaking about the film, V. Venkat, Chief Operating Officer, Ocher Studios, says, "It was Soundarya's dream project. It's a humongous task. It involved a lot of brainstorming sessions before we could finalise it. Now, we will have to get into the nitty gritty of the script, dubbing, etc. The film will be a general one — not something based on the superstar's life."

According to Pooja Shetty, Director, Adlabs Films Ltd., "Animation has universal appeal. There is a dearth of quality animation content originating from the country. Adlabs hopes to make a foray into the sector with this film. Ocher will bring strong creative and technical values to the project."

Incidentally, Ocher was also involved in the animation work for films such as "Chandramukhi" and "Anbe Aaruyire".
