COMEDY TIME Kathady S. Ramamurthy plays the lead

The Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha is presenting the Tamil comedy Kalyanathil Galatta, written and directed by Kalaimamani Raadhu, who has over 42 plays to his credit.

This comedy, written in 1966 has been staged 4,000 times all over India and Sri Lanka with actors like Danal K.A. Thangavelu and M. Saroja in the lead. Now Kathady S. Ramamurthy dons the lead role. As is the tradition, the play, in its 40th year, will again be performed in its original form. The story reveals around the "normal" happenings in a Hindu marriage. In the play, thieves enter a wedding hall and make away with the bridal jewellery. The ensuing chaos forms the hilarious substance of the play, finally coming together in the climax.The playwill be staged at the Tirumala Vidya Niketan Hall, behind Chowdiah, on February 12 at 7 p.m. For details, call 23345665 / 9845487748.
