VVIPS for PFR
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's fleet review has a big list of invitees comprising the country's who's who. It includes Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekawat, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Navy Chief Arun Prakash, the Governor and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Chief Ministers of some other States, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of some countries along with their military attaches and about 1,000 VIPs, a majority of them from Andhra Pradesh will witness the PFR along with spectators expected to be around a few lakhs.
Security precautions
Eleven traffic control rooms (TCR) or outposts would be set up in the city for the PFR. And over 4,000 outstaion police personnel would join the local police to take care of security arrangements, said Commissioner of Police V.S.K. Kaumudi. Regarding the high-rise buildings on the Beach Road, he said that City Police was vigilant to the aspect. He requested the residents of all buildings to cooperate with the police in restricting the entry of strangers into the buildings.
Police booths are set up all along the Beach Road, from Jalaripeta to Kailasagiri to ensure safety of spectators and their free movement. Only vehicles displaying passes would be allowed in the area and no vehicle would be permitted from noon on February 12 when the PFR is going on.
