Support through song

A 70-voice choir will render spiritual melodies in various languages

The Indian Missionary Society celebrates its founding day on February 12 with a music programme India Sings at St. George's Higher Secondary School, Poonamallee High Road. A 70-voice choir (accompanied by an orchestra) seated on an India-shaped stage will be rendering spiritual melodies in various languages. The programme will start at 6 p.m.

Members of various churches, schools and colleges in the city will be participating. The orchestra will be conducted by Jacob Rubin and the choir by James Davids.

The Indian Missionary Society is completing 103 years of service to the poorer sections of society through its homes for the tribal students in 20 States of India and medical centres, rehabilitation centres and schools in various parts of the country. Sponsorships and donations in this connection will be used to build hostels, rehabilitation and medical centres at Chakkia in Uttar Pradesh and Palakonda in Andhra Pradesh.

The IMS Chennai branch functioning at 47/31, Police Commissioner Office Road from 1915 is a strong support to the parent society. About 400 children in its hostels and 240 missionary teachers get support from various families, prayer groups, churches and institutions.

Entry for the concert is priced at Rs. 50 and dinner at Rs. 50. For details call 28193701 or 9841581909.
