Yukta uncorked!

ON THE LOOK OUT Yukta Mookhey

Beauty queen Yukta Mookhey was in town recently to open the fashion jewellery outlet Glitz in New Delhi's Lajpat Nagar.

Asked to take the mike Yukta said, "Every woman is fond of jewellery and fashion jewellery is a very practical option for those who want variety in their jewellery and keep up with the latest trends without spending too much. The other good thing about it is that it can be worn with both Indian as well as western and fusion outfits." Jewellery at the Glitz uses crystals, semi-precious stones and beads in a variety of colours and designs that are set in metals such as white metal or threaded together to give a funkier look.

Music album

Moving on from jewellery, the former Miss World, who has been out of the limelight for a long time, also spoke about her plans in life. Trained in Hindustani classical music, she hopes to cut a semi-classical album by the end of this year. "No remixes for me. After training in classical music, one really doesn't want to sing the same songs as some bathroom singer who decides to sing and cut an album," says Yukta. Also in the pipeline is a book about what she thinks the youth can contribute to India.

Although she has two films releasing this year, Katputli and Memsaab, Yukta is keen on making a foray into the world of television serials. "TV is becoming a very powerful medium now in India and there is much more scope for women-oriented roles in TV. The telly also gives actors the opportunity to interact with the audience on a daily basis," she says.

Any particular TV role she has in mind? To have a chat show similar to the Oprah Winfrey show, she adds.
