TV to cinema
Shriya Reddy, the zany veejay of SS Music channel, has decided to take a break from television.
She is moving to the big screen in her quest to do "meaningful and realistic cinema" and has signed two films in Tamil and one in Telugu.
Said Shriya with her trademark smile: "I think the time has come for me to move on from television to cinema. At 22, I would like to do something more serious in life. I had my share of fun and glamour playing a television anchor and now I am being offered plum roles in offbeat cinema."
Shriya is now doing "Veyil", directed by newcomer Vasanth Balan, in Tamil and a Telugu film, while her "Oraal" in Malayalam is complete.
Shriya is also considering an offer from an upcountry television channel to host an Indian version of the Oprah Winfrey show.
