Cosmetic dermatologists are busy enhancing personalities

That `Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" is a common saying. But perhaps, it is time to rephrase the words to "Beauty lies in the hands of cosmetic dermatologist", who reconstructs your beauty with the support of various technologies like laser and proves that beauty is no more a matter of destiny. Looking beautiful is not a problem any longer. If you choose the right technique and the right person, that is. "Beauty takes a special and prime place in the minds of human beings and often it has its psychological implications, says Hema Sathish Devadoss, a cosmetic dermatologist in the city.

"When a woman improves her appearance, she becomes more confident that makes all the difference," she says. Dr. Hema offers a host of corrective therapies such as slimming and body sculpting, double chin removal, treatment of dark circles, skin refining, micro dermabrasion for facial skin rejuvenation and lifting, removal of wrinkles, and removal of unwanted body hair, pigmentation, scars, birthmarks, breast reduction, firming and lifting. With laser therapy, she also treats all kinds of skin, hair problems and nail problems besides treating hirsuitism, (a male pattern hair growth on female such as beard, moustache), warts, contractures, post accident scars, post surgical scars, lump-like scars, (hypertrophic) and stone-like scars (keloid), eczema.

No discrimination

When it comes to beauty and good looks, there is no sex and age discrimination. Both men and women belonging to all age groups throng Sanche Skin and Laser Clinic in KK Nagar to enhance their personalities. Though she has a clinic in Mumbai, Dr.Hema concentrates on Madurai clinic as she feels cases here are more challenging. "People come with real problems that threatens their life or marriage. But in Mumbai, stunning models and girls come with minor cosmetic problems."

"The job is soul satisfying as people congratulate the work and explain how I have helped them to regain their `lost life' or `missing life' owing to these problems," she says humbly.

"In Madurai, I am not pushed to the prim to be commercial," she says. Dr.Hema consciously avoids picking out cosmetic problems in her patients. She waits till they reveal it themselves. She also never gives any false hopes that she will perform a miracle. If she thinks she will not be able to do justice to a patient, she even turns them away. "Refusing patients may sound stupid and ridiculous but I do not want to give false hopes and mint money in the name impossible treatments," she underlines.Dr.Hema also helps leukemia and hair fall patients with follicular hair transplant techniques. She even sets right frown and worry lines on the faces and uses fillers to make your lips more attractive.

Disappointing days

"My earlier days were very hard and disappointing," she reminisces, adding that even doctors were not aware of cosmetic dermatology and simply laughed at her thinking she was no more than a beauty parlour assistant.

"Now, there is greater awareness and they understand that I do some sensible work on patients who have physical problems that often ends up in depression."

Dr. Hema also prescribes a diet and exercises for obesity problems. She also has arrangement for yoga classes in her clinic. She soon plans to add yet another service — treatment for dark circles and stretch marks with mesotherapy techniques.

She has every qualification to claim the first slot in Southern districts and the second doctor in Tamil Nadu to work with such beauty enhancing techniques.
