Rudraveena maestro Ustad Asad Ali Khan is performing in the city

The Bangalore Chapter of SPICMACAY (Society for the promotion of Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth) is organising a series of music concerts between February 19 and 21. The concert will feature the renowned rudraveena artiste Ustad Asad Ali Khan. The event also includes concerts in various schools and colleges in the city.
Ustad Asad Ali Khan is one of the few active masters of the rudraveena and he represents the Beenkar Gharana of Jaipur. He is noted for the purity of his style as well as the mood of profound contemplation evoked by his music.
Ustad Asad Ali Khan has performed in many countries and also teaches music at the University of Delhi besides conducting music courses in the U.S. He is a top-grade artiste at the All India Radio, who has received several awards and honours that include the Sangeet Shiromani Award from Lalit Kala Academy (Kanpur), Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1985, Tiruna Dhrupad Award, Kashi in 1988 and Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in 1989 and the Tansen Award in 1994.
At the concerts in the city, the Ustad will be accompanied by Mohan Shyam Sharma on the Pakhawaj, who is also an A grade artiste on the AIR.
The concerts are on February 19 at IIITV, on February 20 at IIMB and on February 21 at MES College. Entries to the concerts are free.
