Exhibition of photographs

Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India is organising an exhibition of photographs by Jonathan Watts. Called `Kerala: of Gods & Men,' the exhibition will be held on the premises of Alliance Francaise from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Laurent Aubert, Curator of the Ethnographic Museum in Geneva, will inaugurate the exhibition at 6 p.m. on February 23. The inaugural function will be followed by a Baul concert by Parvati Baul.

The extraordinary photographs of Jonathan Watts allows us to witness various rituals in Kerala.

Between 1998 and 2003, Laurent Aubert conducted extended field work in South India. His subjects of research include rituals in Kerala, and Watts, photographer for the same museum, documented those rituals.

Watts has been the photographer for the Ethnographic Museum since 1993. He recently published a book on Bharatanatyam. He also illustrated several books on the collections of the Ethnographic Museum of Geneva.
