`Bhava Tarang - Classical-Western Fusion,' Priya R.Pai, Saveri Audios, Rs.100

The compact disc `Kriti Malika' contains kritis of Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, Neelakantasivan, Narayanatheerthar, Annamacharya, Swati Tirunal and N. P. Ramaswamy.

The ragas are Arabhi, Ritigaula, Attana, Kalyana Vasantham, Ganamurthi, Subha pantuvarali, Sama, Kapi, Neelambari, Vrindavan Saranga, Hindolam and Sindhubhairavi. Priya R. Pai, a graded artiste in classical music, renders the kritis soulfully in a devout mood devoid of any improvisation.

She is accompanied on the mridangom by Balakrishna Kamath, violin by Ajith Kumar Edappally, and on the ghatom by Biju Edappally.

The CD `Bhava Tarang' has nine tracks with orchestration and music composed and sung in the classical-Western mould by the vocalist Priya R. Pai herself.

`Aaj aaye syam,' a bhajan in the raag Revathi stands out for its soothing impact. Violin support by Ajith Kumar Edappally, mridangom by Balakrishna Kamath, veena by Biju Annamanada combines with the western Rhythm by Biju Edappally.

The Carnatic ragas Hamsanadham, Revathi, Yamunakalyani, Ritigaula, Sindhubhairavi, Dharmavathi, Natta, Hindolam mingles with the beats of Rhythm to produce the fusion.

The compositions included in the CD are `Venkata Ramana,' `Sri Hanumantha,' `Kanavilum Pazhani,' `Parukulle nalla nadu,' `Gayathi vanamali,' `Tirupukazh' and `Durganandini.'
