The postman arrives

AN EMBER FOR A BEGINNING Anuuj Saahwney lands up in controversy for his blistering statements

Anuuj Saawhney is back in contention after his Naina failed to attract eyeballs. Chingari, where he is cast opposite Sushmita Sen, has hit the silver screen. Talking about his role in the movie he says, "I have played the role of a postman named Chandan Mishra who falls in love with a prostitute called Basanti played by Sushmita."

Anuuj was in the news recently when he leaked to the press the alleged re-takes involved in some intimate scenes with Sushmita. It led to Sushmita threatening to move out of the film promotion. He clarifies, "That was total misinterpretation of my words by a section of the media. I never stated that there were many retakes, but of course, a movie cannot be shot in one take. Besides, I never said there was any intimate scene between me and Sushmita Sen. The words were misinterpreted and misunderstood."

Talking about his experience with Sushmita and Mithun Chakravarty, who is playing the pivotal role of a religious guru in the film, he says, "Sushmita is an amazing lady. She always encouraged me to give my views when needed. Mithunji is like a godfather to me. I have learned a lot from him. He has taught me like his son."

New films

Asked about his plans he says, "My upcoming movies are Tom Dick and Harry and the long-awaited Brides Wanted. Tom Dick and Harry is a mindless comedy of deaf, mute and blind guys directed by Deepak Tijori. In Brides Wanted, directed by Girish Acharya, I have acted as an NRI who comes to India to marry an Indian girl. The idea of this movie is very much Indian."

The actor aspires to work with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ramgopal Varma and is impressed with Aamir Khan for "he looks very professional in his work" and Priyanka Chopra because "she sounds very good."
