Fourteen Bangalore-based artists showcase their works at the new Hues Art Gallery
|
URBAN CONFUSION One of the works of Ragurama
An unusual name. Yes, 560014 is the name of the art exhibition at the newly opened Hues Art Gallery (72/139 Eldams Road, Teynampet). It showcases the creations of 14 Bangalore-based artists (560000 being the pin code of that city), hence the title.
None of the works have titles, though most of the paintings seem to deal with psychological yearnings and surrealistic ideas. If Krishna Rajendrakumar's acrylic painting appears to depict the fantasy of a drug addict, M.V. Srinivasacharya's double-edged face is psychedelic in its colour combinations. C. F. John's is an example of suspended animation, perhaps indicating the uncertainties of human life. The shapes and colours are clearly defined in the works of Srinidhi Seshadri.
The cramped and confused situation of city life seems to be the theme of Raghurama's work. Sridhar Murthy's watercolours effectively contrast the hard facts and the delicate nuances of life by juxtaposing the rock and the flower. The ink drawing of Babu Jattakar manages to bring out the texture of the rocks. The stone sculptures of Narasimha Prakash and Narayana Sutradhar too contrast the rough and smooth polished surfaces.
The exhibition is on till February 26.
