Change of image

Suresh Gopi, the original action hero of Malayalam cinema, is back with "Lanka", releasing this Friday. Gopi, famous for his roles as a tough police officer, has now attempted an image change by reinventing himself as a romantic hero in the film, which is writer A. K. Sajan's first foray into direction. "Lanka" is a racy thriller and Gopi plays an anti-hero with Mamta Mohandas for company. The film was shot in Colombo and Malpe beaches near Mangalore. Says Suresh Gopi: "In my younger days, I was branded as an action hero and never got a chance to do romantic roles. In `Lanka' I play a Casanova. It is a violent love story."
