PUTTING HER BEST FACE FORWARD Rakshanda Khan
She is no longer keen on catwalking, so she doesn't do it. She is a pure foodie, so she doesn't diet.
She believes she can anchor shows without a hitch, so she is often seen hosting shows, both live and canned. She feels films can't give you what TV can these days, so she is not in Bollywood.
Well, one can go on and on like this about Rakshanda Khan, former model and now a TV actress and anchor.
Someone you and I better identify as the evil Mallika who made life hell for bholi bhali Jassi in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin on Sony TV. She managed to make her presence felt despite Jassi being the central character. But to return to her style of talking, it essentially brings out Rakshanda's breezy, blasι nature.
Tell her that and all she does is dish out a big, broad smile.
For now, she's excited about her new show on Star Plus, Jodee Kamaal Ki, featuring celebrity couples and their lives. It will be telecast from Saturday next week at 9 p.m. "Just wait and watch, the show is captivating. It is a great home-grown idea for a reality show. Viewers will have fun watching celebrity couples talk about their relationship," she says.
Testing relationships
In case you think you will be watching some Page 3 people talking sweet-nothings on camera, she immediately clarifies "The format of the show is such that they have to be spontaneous with their answers. It will actually show the strength of their relationship. Both husband and wife would be asked same questions but they will have to write it down without one seeing the other's answer, so you can't fake it."
For instance, she points out, how in the first episode, actors Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi were asked to write down their wedding date and year in ten seconds. "One couple was asked, `Who do you like more, your mother or your mother-in-law?' A tricky question, as in order to keep your spouse happy, you might decide to say mother-in-law and make your mother angry," smiles Rakshanda.Produced by former actor Dheeraj Kumar's Creative Eye, the show will feature three couples in each episode.
Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Varun Badola and Raageshwari, Shaan and Radhika, Rakhee and Rajeev Tandon, Baba Sehgal and Anju, Yashwant Sinha and his wife, Krishnamachari Srikanth, Mohinder Amarnath and Syed Kirmani with their spouses are some of the celebrity couples featured.
Sheetal Design Studio has designed some bright-hued Indo-Westerns for the show. Single still, and talking on and on about couples and the strength of relationships, one is quite tempted to ask Rakshanda when she plans to walk the aisle. "Well, can't say. My Mr. Right seems to be elusive. I don't seem to find him," she laughs.
Well, those talks linking her with cricketer Zaheer Khan and now Irfan Pathan were only rumours! "Of course," she says.
And no, she is not looking for perfection in her man, simply because she is "full of flaws." Enough clues to those in the queue!
