Is money the main element in a successful relationship?
|
CAREER OR ROMANCE Which gets priority?
"I'm waiting for a woman to sweep me off my feet! And make me fly... and I know that that day will come... that day will come..." This was the sentence that made me turn to the poor heart broken man sitting to my right with his friends at my favourite coffee shop at 2 in the morning. I never meant to eavesdrop, but he was rather loud, and so I couldn't help wonder at the confidence with which he boldly shouted those words. And as the conversation went on he ended it with something different altogether. "And I know that when I find her, she'll have a HUGE bank account and life will be good, because so will I." And that got me thinking and so, I write... is money the main element in a really successful relationship? I really don't know? And for the first time in all the articles I've written, I'm the one asking the question Is money really THAT important?
Fast-paced world
It's a really fast paced world and the average teenager has moved on from outdoor games to play station. From cycling with her friends to make up and magazines that show you how to look good and start early.
No more is puppy love being thought of with an adorable sense of seriousness. Because this generation is smart. And they know it isn't easy, and to make a mark (since everyone wants to have absolute independence today) in the world today, you really have to focus and think big. But here's my question? Does that theory apply to the relationships they get into as well?
Is it all about where you go? How you woo? And is personal security number one? If this is true, then it's nice career comes first. But then what about love? And what ever happened to the fact that you could have a relationship and build your life together one step at a time? Have independence and finance become number one when it comes to romance and mutual understanding?
Now don't get me wrong! I'm not taking on every relationship, and I know there are some hardcore romantics out there who are going at it with all they got. But I am really confused. All my friends got dumped because their partners wanted to move on with a secure life and either moved out of the country and are engaged now or got married to a really rich man or woman. Now if this is logical and perfectly right, then I guess all the words of love hold no bonds.
So, let me know, does love matter or is it eventually financial? And if it does matter, whatever happened to perseverance and trust? You know the mail address now show me how philosophical the romantic and smart can get! Does love really require money?
