CROWNING GLORY Designed for the Miss India pageant

Tanishq has unveiled a set of thee crowns for the Miss India pageant 2006. The crowns, say the makers, is designed by the Tanishq Design Studio. The studio has also created a collection of jewellery for this pageant, which will be launched as the Colors of Royalty range.

The crowns use motifs such as the traditional and auspicious teeka. Each crown weigh "450 gm. and come with a spring mechanism designed to fit perfectly on any head size or shape, says debashis Mishra, from the Design Studio. "The challenge lay in creating designs that would reach out to the world yet have an intrinsic Indian feel," he adds.
