TEESR AANKH
Tips, Rs.150.
This film in which Amisha Patel plays a mute witness to a murder and pairs with Sunny Deol for the second time after "Ghadar", interestingly has some very peppy numbers in the beginning by Jazzy B. "Chug De Punjabi", "Assi Teri Gal Karni", despite having a sameness in them, are quite foot tapping. Then "Titliyan Titliyan" sung by Sonu Nigam and Shweta Pandit, a lounge mix in "Sharabiyon" which Asha Bhonsle also sings, are not that bad for a couple of listenings. The songs repeat themselves in the film the music of which is scored by Sikhshinder Shinda while Karamjeet Kadhowla pens the lyrics. Overall an average album except Jazzy B numbers that may keep you jiving during party time.
JIGYAASA
Das Music, Rs.95
What do you expect from a film where the album announces, "her music is an addiction"? Good music, some good feel to the beat, some nice lyrics. Hold to those expectations, this one here does not quite fulfil them. This despite the best efforts of lyricists Ravi Chopra, Raju Chand, Jagdeesh Anand and S.H. Chauhan. Incidentally, Ram Shankar makes a comeback of sorts as the music director. But the lilt one associates with him is missing.
For record though, there are seven numbers in this album. Opening with "Saansein Meria Saansein Mien", it is probably among the better offerings here. Of course, some youngster might just tap their feet to "Saansey Meri".
Go in for this CD if you don't mind a motley collection with a mix of the good and completely average fare.
HUMKO DEEWNA KAR GAYE
Tips, Rs 135.
In this film starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif the title song sung by Sonu Nigam and Tulsi Kumar is smooth and hummable, though for lovers of good music, it may take some time to strike a chord. The song "Fanah" sung by ever-pleasant KK, a bad singer Anu Malik and chorus, make a peppy number. "Bhula Denge Tumko Sanam", a slightly sad number is tolerable too. "Dekhte Dekhte" sung by Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik can already be heard in playing in the market. Rest are just acceptable. The songs in this film by Raj Kanwar are penned by Samir and music scored by Anu Malik.
Just acceptable.
MOZART IN EUROPE
Preiser Records
The year 2006 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In honour of this versatile genius whose music appeals to a vast spectrum of listeners, whether they are well versed in the nuances of classical music or not, a special CD recording has been brought out. The album carries a number of the composer's great creations.
Among them is the Concert for Violin and Orchestra no. 5 in A-major. This is presented by the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. "The Magic Flute" is another old favourite, of which four sections have been included. Among these, "Pa-Pa-Pa-Pagena" is lively and fun.
