Rib-tickling comedy

FUNNY BUSINESS Thanthra Mukhi by United Amateur Artistes features the heavyweight of Tamil comedy, Y.G. Mahendra

United Amateur Artistes, a theatre group based in Chennai, presents a new comedy, Thanthra Mukhi, at the Sri Krishna Devaraya Kala Mandiram in Malleswaram. The play has been written by Chitralaya Sriram and dramatised and directed by veteran Tamil comedian Y.G. Mahendra. Mahendra himself plays Solution Sundaram, a veritable Mr. Fix-It.

The play is a take-off on the runaway hit Chandramukhi. Hari, the faint-hearted protagonist of the play, is in love with Meena, the daughter of a business magnate, but is told that he cannot marry until he atones for the sins of a previous life. He turns to Solution Sundaram for help, and it is up to the latter to save the day.

The event is in aid of VHS Medical Centre's neurological centre.

Thanthra Mukhi is being staged at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at the Sri Krishna Devaraya Kala Mandiram, Tirumala Vidya Niketan, behind Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. For details, contact Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha on 23345665 or 98454-87748.
