A holistic approach can help bust stress
|
High pressure careers, tiresome commuting and disturbed sleep patterns are snippets from life in the city. Unfortunately, very few people search beyond temporary relief. Most settle for silent suffering or undergo prolonged medication. In the city for the first time to conduct the Power Within Programme, Acharya Vinay Vinekar, Founder, Bangalore-based Institute of Universal Consciousness (IUC) says, "Pranayama techniques improve the lung capacity and bring about a feeling of overall wellness. For instance, certain Kriyas or cleansing techniques like squeezing and cupping of the eyes, and rotating of the eyeballs help those who stay glued to computers for long hours. Meditating for a minimum of 20 minutes a day facilitates mind-body coordination." Having worked with people from different walks of life such as the Bangalore Police, corporates, schools and mentally challenged children, Vinekar feels that people can tap into their own inner resources to maintain a healthy body and mind.
The Power Within programme is based on techniques drawn from Indian, Chinese and Japanese Masters. The session begins on March 9, 6 p.m., at the Pushpagiri Mahasansthana Veda Paathashala, Begumpet. Call 93911 62100 or 9394776916 for details.
