TREASURES OF THE SEA Crabs and prawns are for those who enjoy seafood

The ample parking space was a relief. The aroma from the chaat and shawarma counter, at the entrance of the restaurant beckons us, but as it was raining, we had to forgo the option of having a quick snack and instead head for the main restaurant.

The ambience was welcoming as the steward led us to our table at Sindhoor Palace. The interior dιcor was chic and the seating arrangement was not cramped.

Hot and sweet

We decided to go Chinese. Dragon Chicken (Rs. 70) was what we had for starters. Shredded chicken seasoned with a mix of Chinese masala and a hint of Thai red chilli paste, it was hot and sweet.

The steamed rice (Rs. 30) we ordered was fluffy. The Puket Fish in hot chilli sauce (Rs. 100) were three de-boned fillets of seer fish that was fried in butter. It comes in a hot sauce that is a mix of Chinese masala and white pepper. The fish looked deep-fried and crisp but was surprisingly succulent when we bit into it.

The Chicken noodles (Rs. 60) was delicious and so was the sweet and sour vegetables (Rs. 50). For dessert, the restaurant offers ice cream, caramel custard and fruit salads.

Apart from Chinese, the restaurant offers Indian, tandoor and Continental dishes. For those who are on the run and want a quick bite, a shawarma and chaat counter, which offers items like bhel puri, pani puri, and pav bhaji, is open at the entrance.

Buffet

A buffet is on at the rooftop for lunch (Rs. 95) and dinner (Rs. 115). For those with children who get restless with the affair of fine dining, there is also a children's play area. The huge playhouse is bound to keep them occupied. The rock garden dining area, which offers a-la-carte, has a waterfall leading to a pond with a charming bridge cutting across the pond.
