Flops and few films have exhibitors burn in a tizzy
|
It is strange but true. The Chronicles of Narnia, a dubbed film, is reporting good collections, while ticket sellers at theatres showing Rajababu, Manodu and Hai Subramanyam are swatting flies. Nothing needs to be said about films like Kumar versus Kumari and Bullabai. The ongoing examination fever has already started showing its effect on the box-office with collections taking a sharp drop everywhere. Exhibitors are preparing for the worst with a 60-70 percent drop in collections in the weeks ahead.
A majority of exhibitors are anxious about the poor flow of films in the coming few weeks, apart from the fact that the existing films have not been able to sustain at the box-office.
Big films like Sri Ramdasu and Bangaram will release only towards the end of March whereas Party may test its luck at around the same time. On the other hand, the multiplexes are making hay with the consistent flow of English films that are being released week after week.
Hindi vs. English
It is ironical. While the Hindi films are fewer and have even less sustaining power, the English films are being released with a great number of prints.
