MY KIND OF PLACE -- JAYAPRADA

LONDON

Waiting to get away

Believe it or not, for the past two years, I have been working non-stop. Politics, films and dance have left me with no time to visit my kind of place — London. I always love and long to be in this most happening metro in the world.

Shop till you drop

Quite like Paris and New York, London is a shopoholic's delight. Being one, I just freak out picking up all kinds of stuff — from designer to ordinary wear. There's Oxford Street with department stores that stock international brands. Then there are Bond Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden. From swish stores to upmarket boutiques and colourful street markets, London has it all. And if you enter Harrods, you can never keep a tab on time. There's an amazing range, both cost wise and style wise that can leave you overwhelmed and confused.

The cool countryside

I never return without visiting the English countryside. With its rolling hills, vast expanse of greenery, unpolluted air, misty mornings, quiet lanes, farmlands and old churches, it's a great idea to go on long drives, walks, picnics or just put up your feet and relax. I keep moving as I enjoy exploring these small towns and villages steeped in history.

Waiting to shoot

Fortunately, one of the films I am doing, "Janakibai", will be shot extensively in London. A working trip, yes, but at least it's a chance to be in the place I like most.
