The following are the `Books of the Month' for March:

Aditi and the Techno Sage by Suniti Namjoshi (published by Tulika, Rs. 80. Ages 8+): This book is the fourth in the series of adventures of Aditi and friends. Aditi is off to Canada this time with her friends with a message for the Techno Sage. But the Sage, on the other hand, has covered her island with a shield through which even e-mail cannot penetrate. A brilliant mixture of fun, excitement, adventure and humour.

Aiyappan and The Magic Horse: (published by Tulika, Rs. 150. Ages 10+): The story is about 15-year-old Aiyappan, living in Kanchipuram and learning and performing the traditional form of theatre called Kuttu. The book has two narratives, running side by side — one which talks about Aiyappan's life and the other is the actual script of the play `The Magic Horse', written by Aiyappan's teacher. Ideal book for students of theatre/art as it helps bridge different cultures and experiences. The book comes with a note for teachers and a reading list.

Adventures of Nonu the Skating Squirrel by Anita Nair (published by Rupa & Co, Rs.120. Ages 7+): The squirrel family must move to a new neighbourhood and Nonu is not happy. But he soon discovers that his new home can be fun with his new friend Nicole, and with his brand new skateboard, he is all set to have many adventures.

Earthsong by Geeta Dharmarajan (published by Katha, Rs. 120. Ages 6+): A lyrical tribute to the earth and its amazing diversity, with plenty of information and colourful artwork. How can we keep our earth green and blue? How can we care for and share this planet with others and at the same time, enjoy being part of it? Sensitively written, it's a must-read for youngsters.

Surangini by Pratap Sharma (published by Katha, Rs. 120. Ages 6+): Surangini, the daughter of a village zamindar, is the most beautiful maiden anyone has ever seen.
