The popular Indo-German Film Festival premieres in Bangalore later this year

After wowing audiences for the last two years, the third edition of the Indo-German Film Festival is set to come back to Bangalore again this year. Scheduled to kick off at the end of October, this year's festival will be organised by the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan in partnership with the Bavarian Film and Television Foundation (FilmFernsehFonds Bayern - FFFB) and the Indian Film Festival Committee comprising Karnataka's film stalwarts — U.R. Ananthamurthy, V.N. Subba Rao, I.M. Vittala Murthy, Vasant Mokashi and S. Ramachandra.

The return of the festival was recently announced in Berlin during the 56th International Film Festival by Klaus Schaefer, CEO of FFFB, in the presence of Erwin Huber, the Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs, who will also participate in the Festival when he visits Bangalore for the IT.in Trade Fair.

The programme is packed with exciting fare on the Indian and German sides. The Indian spotlight will focus on outstanding recent films from the four Southern States and the German contribution will include Oktoberfest — The Film which will be the inaugural film, Sophie Scholl — The Final Days, the Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, Sleeper, Napola and Shadows of Time. The festival will be rounded off by a package of children's films. This year, it will première in Bangalore and then move on to Chennai.

The fest promises to open up new horizons in the south Indian film scene, offering a platform for international cooperation, co-production, interaction and exchange.
