CROSSOVER Omi's collection defies conventional notions of men's and women's clothes and accessories
It's called Integration, and hold your breath, it offers skirts and bags for men. Omi, a fashion graduate from the Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, has dared to break gender boundaries of fashion to design this collection. "It is not about homosexuality or cross dressing. It is about integrity and about redefining cross sexuality," says the young designer, who won the Most Creative Award at the Vogue Mystique Designer Awards, 2005.
Omi has used khadi and denim in colours of classic cream, grassy green and denim blues for his new collection, launched with a fashion show at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall recently.
"Unisex dressing restores some fun back into fashion. It requires a better understanding of fashion to design such collections. And it is for men who are man enough to show off their legs. And they are definitely not ones who wear pink," adds Omi.
