Have a posh seat

Kian Furniture has added another floor with a host of exquisite knick-knacks to choose from

SIT IN STYLE How more cool can it be sipping a Cosmopolitan on these bar stools?

So you have bought that smart new flat and the bare walls are glaring accusingly at you? Fear not, for Kian is here! The good news for shoppers is the swanky furniture store above The Bombay Store on M.G Road has added another 5,000 sq ft on the second floor. The extra space translates to some cool glass furniture (both coffee and dining tables). The lamps made of banana fibre with minimalist steel holders make wonderful gifting options — for weddings, housewarmings or you could just gift yourself for sticking to your diet!

Other gift options are the esoteric flower vases and stately candleholders. And you could also stock the vases with extraordinarily realistic flowers — from the cheerful sunflower to shaggy-headed dahlias; it is a veritable tropical paradise.

Inspirational lifestyle

Namrata Dugar, Managing Director, brought Kian Furnitures to Indian in 2003 under the name of Ikian — Indian Kian. Namrata says: "Kian is not just about furniture, it is about an inspirational lifestyle." And what better way to get inspired than by soaking in the theme based furniture? You can furnish rooms by theme like you could do up the living room in the award-winning Qing, a contemporary oriental collection. The bedroom could be done in Banyan, which gives a tropical look with teak and sun drenched wicker. Most of the pieces in this range are made from grain rich teak. Or you could choose from the regal Amanpuri Collection or the contemporary Water Hyacinth Collection.

And you could jazz the tables and chairs with some handmade, hand-painted sculpted ceramics.

If you are the kind that would kill for the gorgeous Vietnamese lacquer work, Kian is the place to check out. The brilliantly coloured bowls and trays would uplift even the most ordinary furniture and when teamed with the exclusive stuff from Kian, it would be a banquet for the gods! There are also mango wood vases and pottery from Thailand for that decidedly oriental look.

For all who believe freebies add meaning to life, Kian has a couple of irresistible offers. There is a 25 per cent discount on select furniture like the mind-blowing Macy Wing Chair. The tall-backed chair redefines opulence and with its plush footstool one could feel quite like royalty. Other furniture that comes under the discount umbrella is the Kinstar, Sally and Ottoman New York Chair. With all these options, as Namrata comments: "Kian is an alluring furniture buffet!"

Apart from furniture for houses, Kian also does hospitals, schools, restaurants, cafeterias and bistros. The client list includes Reliance, Microsoft, Oracle, Dell and Café Coffee Day.

As Namrata explains: "The cigarette butt resistant, spill and scratch resistant range of stackable laminated tables looks like marble or granite but is actually compressed rubber wood with laminated finishes."

The furniture is manufactured in Kian's factories at Malaysia, China and Indonesia where twenty years experience is translated to exquisite pieces of furniture. Kian can be reached on 41122215/16.
