Penning her thoughts

Shenaz Treasurywala on television, films and writing

Back after a hiatus Shenaz Treasurywala

Shenaz Treasurywala entered films with Ishq Vishq. However, the film helped Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao more than Shenaz to get a foothold in Bollywood. The TV hostess, who took a sabbatical from films, is back now with Umar co-starring Jimmy Shergill. Excerpts from an interview:

On Umar: The film talks about finding a meaning to life, irrespective of age. Jimmy joins hands with Kader Khan, Satish Kaushik and Pran to fight for a cause, and I play Jimmy's love interest. It's a film that people can identify with.

On her career: Soon after Ishq Vishq I got a lot of offers. But I didn't like any of them. So I just waited. After Umar, there are two more projects under discussion.

On her new script: I did a script writing course in New York and recently, wrote a script in English. A director has shown some interest. It's a story about three women, their lives, work and relationships. No, it's not on the lines of The Bridget Jones' Diary. On being a writer: I write occasionally on travel for magazines. Writing is therapeutic and helps me put my thoughts together. The course in Mass Communication I did while in Singapore has helped me a lot.

On TV: TV and films are two different ball games, but a stint with the small screen has made me a better actor. I feel more confident in front of the camera. I prefer to do people centric shows but can't associate with reality shows and soaps.

What next: I've conceptualised a travel show and am talking to a few channels about it.
