Re-release pays
When the film was first released on February 10, "Chithirem Pesuthadi", directed by newcomer Mysskin, bombed, though it got rave reviews. Seeing its potential for a re-release, producer `Oscar' Ravichandran went ahead and got better theatres, boosted the publicity by putting up vinyl hoardings and popularised the songs, particularly a `gana' number "Vaalameenu_" on television. The song has been rendered and enacted by `Gana' Ulaganathan. All these moves seem to have paid off, as the box-office collections picked up, especially during weekends. Now, the film has been declared a hit by the trade. Says Mysskin: "The item number sans vulgarity has been noticed for its lyrics and style of rendition. It has gone down well with the B and C audiences."
