Sashaying with aplomb

Fashion meet brings out best of young talent

Apart from the dazzling colours and flamboyance it's the creativity of designers that rivets the attention of audience to any fashion show. The mood was upbeat at MODESTENCL'rs 2006, an inter-collegiate fashion show organised by Fashion Technology department of Shrimathi Indira Gandhi College in the city recently.

Budding designers from various colleges displayed their talent through a wide variety of styles.Students in designer attire sashayed down the ramp with aplomb, while the youthful crowd cheered the participants. The students of the host college were at their creative best when they made innovative designs out of soda bottle caps, adding a stylish appeal to the apparel. Kids wear garments exuded charm when children adorned them and moved about with grace. A few among them provided some enjoyable moments by retracting suddenly, when shyness overpowered them. On the preceding day, the exhibited wall hangings and greeting cards made out of waste materials, and the letter folders made of jute and knitted table cover in particular, were eye catchers. Bouquets and vases made of artificial flowers attracted the onlookers, as much as the chamki, zardoshi and bead work on the garments. And so was Mehandi and Jewel designing.
