Quest for excellence

The fun and frolic was unsurpassed at `Quest'

INFOTAINMENT Quest was a mix of cultural and technical events

The city witnessed yet another edition of `QUEST,' conducted by CEST - the Council for Electronics Studies - an organisation of the electronics students of Sri Chitra Tirunal College of Engineering (SCT).

Hosted at Kanakakunnu Palace and Nishagandhi, QUEST featured an array of cultural and technical events through the two days and stood up to its name as the best infotainment in the city.

Strong attendance

A galaxy of technical and cultural events ensured a strong attendance. Says Lishoy K. Bhaskar, one of the organisers of Quest, "The motto of Quest is: `for knowledge, for mirth and for excellence.' The fun and frolic was unsurpassed and so was the technical advantage gained."

Anoop Thomas of College of Engineering, Trivandrum, and Kiran R of University College of Engineering, Kariavattom, who presented a technical paper at QUEST was all praise for the tech segment of the fest, which included events like PCB Design Contest, Embedded Programming and Technical Quiz. Zachariah Ittymani of SCT stood first for Robotics.

Cult status

At night, the Nishagandhi open-air theatre was immersed in the melodious Voice Hunt and action-packed choreo video.

Quest also featured events like painting, clay modelling, and a treasure hunt.

Ashwin V of University College, Kariavattom, who came third for Computer Gaming comments, "The gaming section was jam packed and I had to put up a tough fight for the third spot."

A virtually non-existent competition a few years back, computer gaming has gained cult status with the advent of games like Unreal Tournament, Need for Speed and Fifa. Balakrishnan of CET stood first for Anthakshari-the age-old songs' fight.

Another usual event in the repertoire was Best Manger. The Mistubushi Lancer Cedia, the latest car from the Lancer quiver, was on showcase for the first time in the city at Quest. Cedia was showcased in the expo held alongside the various events.
