Yoga for kids
Here is a solution to prevent your children from turning into couch potatoes during the vacation. How about a camp? A Yoga camp.
This is what yogacharya Tara Laju plans to do for children between the ages of six and 14. She is introducing a kid's camp to be held during the months of April and May at Yuj Wellness Centre.
"Yoga classes will be clubbed with other sessions. After an introduction to yoga, there will be talks by eminent people from different fields who can entertain and educate children on various matters like etiquette, personality development and so on. A cultural programme will also be organised. Each class will comprise five to six children as each person needs individual care," says Tara. After initial training, the children will be introduced to asanas.
"Children benefit from Yoga as it improves their ability to concentrate and tackle different situations," she adds.
Tara has been practicing yoga for 16 years after studying at BKS Iyengar Institute. She was a student of Sivananda ashram under the tutelage of Swami Sivaswarupananda.
"Yoga is a way of life and is not to be forced on anybody. The results speak for themselves. You can't buy health. Ensure that the yoga instructor is qualified to teach. Different people have to be taught using different styles to suit their needs. I would never recommend short-term courses," she says.
This summer, let yoga show your child the way to physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Contact: 2438254
