With Aparachitudu, actor Vikram became a household name in Andhra Pradesh, a state that is usually a tough cookie for leading actors from other states. The crowds that gathered to watch Vikram on Friday morning was only proof to the fact that his popularity is here to stay for a while.
In the city on a short visit, Vikram visited the DVD store Cinema Paradiso just before leaving for Chennai.
The buzz is that he has just signed a new film to be produced by A.M Ratnam and directed by Mani Ratnam's protégée Linguswamy (who directed the Madhavan starrer, Run). Vikram launched the store's new move P365, by which a new DVD will be released through the next 365 days.
The collection of DVDs will include that of films from different categories Oscar winners, directors' series, Westerns, children, special interest and collections related to international commercials, television series and more.
In a move to curb piracy, the store has also tied up with leading Hollywood studios in order to release DVDs of new films two weeks prior to the film's release in the United States.
