Here are a few options

If you are planning to enrol your child in a camp this summer, here are a few options.

Playcoop located at 12, Fourth Main Road, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, has come up with two camps — one on mask making (April 3 to 13, 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon) and the other on paper art (April 17 to 28, 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon). The camps are meant for those in the age groups 2-3 and 3-6. The fee is Rs 1,000 per camp or Rs. 1,400 which is inclusive of lunch.

The participants will be taught clay work, marble work on pots, tile and glass painting, jute mat making, origami, needlework and more. Besides, there will be singing and storytelling sessions in each camp.

The centre also offers day care facility for children up to 8 years of age.

Ashraya will be conducting Go Sports Football Camp and Funstation Kids Camp. This summer, when all eyes will be on the World Cup in Germany, Go Sports Football Camp will give the boys and girls of Chennai an opportunity to experience the thrill of football. Each day will begin with a training session followed by a session on the field and practice matches. The camp will be held from April 17 to 28, 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., for those in the age group 7-14. The fee is Rs. 1,500 for those who register by April 14 and Rs. 1,750 thereafter. FunStation is a two-week summer camp in an air-conditioned facility for children aged between 4 and 12. Participants will be taught dance routines by the John Britto Dance Company, art techniques, craft, games, action songs, magic and more. At the end of the camp, they can showcase their talent at a programme for parents. The camp will be held from May 1 to 12, 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (Monday to Friday). The fee is Rs. 1,500 for those registering before April 28 and Rs. 1,750 for those registering thereafter. For details call 98842 80349. Shi-ba Fine Arts Academy, 14/7, Sai Murugan Street, Villivakkam, is conducting month-long summer camps for children aged between 4 and 12. The first camp will start on April 1 and the second on April 15 (10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.). The registration starts on March 27. To mark the death anniversary of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan on April 26, the Nehru Children's Cultural Association (65, Fourth Main Road, Raj Flats, Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur) is organising a mathematics summer camp for school students from April 15 to 26, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The classes will be conducted for sub juniors (Standards V and VI); juniors (Standards VII and VIII); and seniors (Standards IX to XI). The last date for registration is April 12.

Apart from this, a 10-day science summer camp for students of Class Six to Eight will be conducted by the association from April 29 to May 10. The students will be taken on a field trip as part of the programme. The last date for registration is April 27. For details call 24453014 or 94444 16484.

Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation is organising a 15-day summer camp from April 14 to 28, 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., for those aged between 5 and 20, which will include classes in culture, festivals, traditional games, art and craft, slokas, bhajans, puppetry, Tanjore painting and yoga.
